Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Štajerska is a regional independent, voluntary, non-profitable association of legal and natural persons who are dealing with profitable business activity and are gathering in the chamber because of similar interests.
The main activities of the Chamber: representing member companies and look after their vital interests; provide expert information and professional support (foreign trade, business environment, current economic policy, identifying business opportunities and making contacts, market data and research); organisation of different business events (cooperation meetings, trade fair, trade missions and business contacts, promotion of members, round tables); education and trainings (seminars, workshops); projects (involved in national and international projects that are importing for development and support of regional economy and chamber’s.

Regular university chemistry studies started in 1919 when the University of Ljubljana was established. It is interesting to note that the first doctoral degree was awarded in chemistry to Ms. Anka Mayer in 1920.
The Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering runs postgraduate programmes in the following areas: Inorganic chemistry, Organic chemistry, Analytical chemistry, Physical chemistry, and Biochemistry. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics (FERI) is a scientific institute with explicitly regional, national and international significance.
Its regional significance is reflected in its close co-operation with industry in and around Maribor, which also employs the majority of graduates and post-graduates. National significance is particularly reflected in institutes, as compound parts of FERI, as well as in teaching centers, which implement the dissemination of basic and applied studies throughout the Republic of Slovenia.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was founded in 1995, but its beginnings go back as far as 1959.  The Textile Technology Department joined the Mechanical Engineering Department ten years later and has remained its constituent part ever since.
